Ilija Trojanow, born in 1965 in Sofia, grew up in Kenya and now lives in Vienna. He studied Law and Ethnology in Munich and in 1992 founded the Marino publishing company, which specialised in African literature. In 1998 he moved to India, from where he wrote reportages and essays. Later, he lived for some time in Kapstadt, then returned to Germany and finally settled in Vienna. Ilija Trojanow has published numerous books and has received many awards. His works have been translated into Arabic, Brazilian, Chinese, English, French, Dutch, Italian, Catalan, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Czech, Turkish and Hungarian.
