Heinrich August Winkler

Heinrich August Winkler, born in Königsberg in 1938, studied History, Philosophy and Law in Tübingen, Münster, and Heidelberg. He did his post-doc in 1970 at the Free University of Berlin. He went on to work there as a professor, and then, from 1972-1991 in Freiburg. Since 1991, he is a professor of modern history at the Humboldt University of Berlin.
