Goran Petrović, (1961-2024) was born in Kraljevo. He studied Yugoslavian and Serbian literature in Belgrade and worked as an editor for publishing houses. He was one of the most significant and most read contemporary authors in Serbia. His novels and stories have been awarded almost all the important national prizes for literature, and in 2000 he received the NIN Award for Sitničarnica „Kod srećne ruke“ (title of the English translation: At the Lucky Hand: aka The Sixty-Nine Drawers, 2020). His works have been translated into several European and global languages, such as French, Spanish, German, Italian, Bulgarian, Slovenian, Macedonian, English, Arabic, etc. Goran Petrović died in January 2024 in Belgrade.
