Esther Kinsky, born in 1956, studied Slavic and English language and literature in Bonn and Toronto. She works as a translator from the Polish, English and Russian. Her translations include titles by Ida Fink, Hanna Krall, Ryszard Krysnicki, Aleksander Wat, Joseph O’Connor and Jane Smiley. Kinksy lives in Berlin. In 2009, she was awarded the Paul Celan Prize and in 2011 the Karl Dedecius Prize.
