Dragan Velikić, born in 1953 in Belgrade, grew up in the Croatian city of Pula and studied literature in Belgrade. At the beginning of the 90s he was a staff member on the weekly newspaper Vreme and from 1996 to 1999 was chief reader of the “B92” publishing company and chief editor of the radio programme with the same name. From 2005 to 2009 he was the Serbian ambassador in Vienna.
Dragan Velikić published several novels, collections of essays and volumes of stories, he also published in many European newspapers. Since 2009 he has again been living as a freelance writer in Belgrade.
