Dejan Ilić was born in 1961 in Travnik (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and has lived in Belgrade since 1969. He studied Italian language and literature. He is working as a freelance translator from Italian and French to Serbian. He translated, among other, works by Quasimodo, Cattafi, Orelli, Magrelli, Fiori, Pusterla, Baudrillard and Jaccottet. He was awarded the Miloš. N. Djurić prize for fort he best translation of poetry for his translation of Jaccottet’s poems. He wrote seven published books of poetry and edited an anthology of contemporary Italian poetry.
