Branko Čegec, born in 1957 in Kraljev Vrh, Vrbovec, studied Yugoslav languages and literatures and comparative literature in Zagreb. He is author of over 15 published books in genres such as poetry, literary critique and essays, for which he received numerous prizes. His poems have been published in over 30 anthologies in Croatia and abroad. For his poetry book Full Month in Istanbul, written during his one-month stay in Istanbul in the framework of the TRADUKI sponsored writers in residence program Marko Marulić, he has received the Kiklop prize. In 2013, he was awarded the renowned poetry prize Goranov vijenac for his overall contribution to Croatian poetry.
