Axel Honneth, born in 1949 in Essen, studied Philosophy, Sociology, and German in Bonn and Bochum. He is considered to be one of Jürgen Habermas’s most exposed students, and is one of the most important living representatives of the Frankfurt School. Axel Honneth is a Professor of Philosophy at Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt , as well as the Managing Director of the Institute for Social Research. He is the Co-Editor of the Deutsche Zeitschrift für Philosophie [German Journal of Philosophy], the European Journal of Philosophy and the journal Constellations. His main research focus is on social philosophy and the logic of social sciences.
