Aleksandra Rekar studied comparative literature and sociology of culture at Ljubljana University. After the completion of her studies she went on to work as a dramaturge in the theatre, collaborating with Dragan Živadinov and Bojan Jablanovec among others. At the same time she started translating fiction, non-fiction, poetry and theatre plays. Nowadays she translates mostly from the English, Serbian and Croatian. Her translations include works by Maeve Binchey, T. C. Boyle, Naomi Klein, Chantal Mouffe, Slavoj Žižek and three collections of poetry by Marko Tomaš. In 2021 she was the recipient of the prestigious Sovre Prize for her translation of Miljenko Jergović’s novel Rodbina pisatelja.
