Aleš Šteger, born 1973 in Ptuj, is a Slovene poet, writer and editor. He wrote six books of poetry as well as several fiction works, the lates beeing the novel  Neverend (2017). His poems and essays have been translated into numerous languages and published worldwide in more than 200 newspapers and magazines. He received many prizes for his works, including the Veronika Prize in 1998, the Rožanc Prize in 2008, the Best Translated Book Award in 2011 for his German translation Buch der Dinge, and the Horst Bienek Prize in 2016. He translates from German, English and Spanish, among others by works Gottfried Benn, Peter Huchel and Ingeborg Bachmann.
