Kuća sećanja i zaborava

The historical fiction novel Kuća sećanja i zaborava, translated into English as “The House of Remembering and Forgetting” is written in the characteristic style of this esteemed author and is considered one of the most authentic works of contemporary Serbian literature. In this novel, Filip David continues to explore the enigma surrounding the interplay of good and evil, drawing on his expertise in Kabbalah and mysticism. It is worth noting that David was born into a Jewish family, and his relatives were victims of a massacre committed by the occupying forces during World War II in Yugoslavia. The text demonstrates exceptional storytelling skill. The novel’s narrative, which takes readers on a journey through the twentieth century marked by pain and suffering, the message of which persistently echoes in the darkness of the night, is unique and unrepeatable, as it depicts the relationship between a Jew (a person who is given the opportunity to change his identity) and a man who is sympathetic to the occupying authorities. This relationship is the basis for considering whether remembering is really more terrible than forgetting.
