Karnera

A novel about a boxer from the Yugoslav socialist era, about would-be champions and thugs in a world constantly suspended between different historical periods: the time of Prince and King Nikola, the time of World War II, the time of the Montenegrin conquest of Belgrade, the time of the attacks on Dubrovnik—and finally, the personal present of the narrator, who moves through his life and all these past but unfinished historical episodes. Milorad Popović was awarded the prestigious Meša Selimović Prize in 2013 for his novel Karnera.
