Mojca Kumerdej deals with human conditions that are extraordinary in every respect. Just as dark matter in astronomy can only be recognised by its effects, in her narratives countless things exist only below the surface, swelling invisibly until they burst to the surface and change everything in a radical and surprising way. In a polyphony of different narrative voices, Kumerdej describes the ongoing tension between the desire for personal freedom, to oppose social constraints that do not tolerate any deviation or creativity, but aim to reduce the human being to a tax number, a robot, or pure biological matter.
