Ekaterina Voinova, born in 1962 in Bulgaria, studied German and Bulgarian philology at Sofia University. She worked as a German teacher and as a lecturer in the field of theory and practice of translation. From 2010 to 2015 she taught German as a foreign language in Kleve and Cologne. Ekaterina Voinova translates novels, non-fiction and plays from German into Bulgarian. Her translations include Seven Years in Tibet by Heinrich Harrer, Tochter des Nordens by Julia Kröhn, Die Traumbude by Erich Maria Remarque, Nach der Flucht by Ilija Trojanow, Der Tag, als meine Frau einen Mann fand by Sibylle Berg, Die Russen-Mafia by Jürgen Roth, Bis zum Untergang by Heinz Linge, Diagnose: unheilbar. Therapie: selbstbestimmt by Sven Böttcher, Adam Geist by Dea Loher and Der Kuss des Vergessens by Botho Strauß. She is also an independent film producer and lives between Germany and Bulgaria.
