The Von Spatz Rehab Centre is located in the hills of Santa Monica. It is a mental hospital for artists and show business employees with a host of psychiatrists, nurses and carers on hand to soothe their nerves. Patients are encouraged to devote themselves fully to their recovery, with a strong focus on artistic expression. For this purpose, the management provides studios, art supplies, an art gallery and much more.

The manager Margarete von Spatz lovingly looks after her patients, including Walt Disney, who tries his hand at various art forms during his stay, more or less in vain.
