Selected Poems

Selected poems by the Bosnian poet Josip Osti who had been living for many years in Slovenia and also wrote in Slovenian. His poems written in Bosnian or in the „language of memory“ as he called it, dealt oftentimes with his experience of war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but this subject slowly disappeared from his poems written in Slovenian. Osti used images of nature to explore human existence and to celebrate life, a condition that is all the more precious because of the unavoidable fate of death.
