The focus of this legendary Hungarian novel is a group of young friends, who, instead of their studies, are more concerned with the real things in life: women and alcohol and above all, money. They reject the paralysed world, in which they live, and refuse to take part in the society-conforming activity. They have realised the impossibility of any revolts and await the future with uneasiness. They also don’t trust the notion of love, only sex matters to them, and the opportunities associated with it for making money – their only concession to the circumstances.
