Vesna Acevska was born in 1952 in Skopje. In 2009, she received the most important Macedonian prize for poetry, the Miladinov Brothers Award. Macedonian literary critique adores her: Katica Kulavkova, herself a poet, literary critic and member of the Macedonian Academy of Arts and Sciences describes her poetry as a „paradigmatic example of the best in Macedonian poetry.” Vesna Acevska is also known for her children’s books and translations. She received the Grigor Prličev Award and the award of the Kalevala Society for the translation of Kalevala from Finnish to Macedonian. Her poems have been translated to many languages, especially in the Balkans.
