                                                                            Thomas Alexander Szlezák was born in 1940 in Budapest. Until his retirement he taught at the Eberhard Karls University Tübingen as Professor of Greek Philology, where he was also Director of the Plato archive. His research on Plato led to him becoming world-famous; his introduction Platon lesen (title of the English translation: Reading Plato) has been translated into many languages.
