Peter Groth, born in Wanne-Eickel in 1967, studied German language and literature and theatre, film and television studies at the University of Bochum. He was a GFL language teacher for ethnic German repatriates and refugees and a DAAD lecturer at the University of Sibiu from 1997 to 2004. He then worked as a translator, managing director of the Brukenthal Foundation, project manager for ‘Sibiu 2007’ and PR consultant for EU projects. In 2008, he returned to Germany and worked in the marketing and sales of machine tools and geodesic domes. Peter Groth has been translating literature from English and Romanian into German since 2014. He lives in Berlin with his wife and daughter.
