Nino Haratischwili was born in Tbilisi, Georgia, in 1983. From 2000 to 2003, she studied film directing at the State School of Film and Theatre in Tbilisi. She came to Germany in 2003 and studied directing at the Hamburg Theatre Academy until 2007. In 2009, together with Philipp Löhle, she won the Heidelberg Playwright’s Prize. Haratischwili’s debut novel Juja (2010) was longlisted for the German Book Prize and shortlisted for the ZDF-aspekte Literature Prize. Her second novel Mein sanfter Zwilling (2011) won the Hotlist of Independent Publishers Award. Nino Haratischwili lives and works as an author and director in Berlin.
