Matthias Nawrat

Matthias Nawrat, born in 1979 in Opole, Poland, moved with his family to Bamberg when he was ten years old. He studied biology in Freiburg and Heidelberg, then at the Swiss Literature Institute in Biel. For his debut novel Wir zwei allein (2012), he received the Adelbert von Chamisso Prize, among others. His novel Unternehmer (2014) was nominated for the German Book Prize. Die vielen Tode unseres Opas Jurek (2015), his third novel, earned him the Förderpreis des Bremer Literaturpreises and the Alfred Döblin Medal. Matthias Nawrat lives in Berlin.
