Laura Karsch, born in 1974 in Sibiu, Romania, grew up bilingually. She studied German and English language and literature, wrote her doctoral thesis on “Satire, Irony and the Grotesque in Carl Einstein” and taught for several years at the German department in Sibiu. She currently lives in Berlin as a freelance translator from German and English into Romanian. She prefers to translate fiction, but also non-fiction books on a wide range of topics as well as analytical psychology. Her translations include C.G. Jung’s “Black Books” and the correspondence between S. Freud and C.G. Jung. Her most recent translation is of Nino Haratischwili’s novel “Das achte Leben”.
