Joanna Elmy

Joanna Elmy is a Bulgarian-born writer and journalist. She is currently a Senior Fellow at the Center for Information, Democracy and Citizenship at the American University in Bulgaria. Her research interests include propaganda studies, myths and storytelling in political communication. She is among Bulgaria’s most prominent young literary voices. Her debut novel Направени от вина received the most prestigious Bulgarian prize for emerging literature in 2022 and was shortlisted for several other national awards. The book is forthcoming in over fifteen languages, including English, French and Portuguese.
