Goce Smilevski, born in 1975, studied General and Comparative Literature in Skopje, Czech Language and Literature in Prague and Gender and Culture Studies at the Central European University in Budapest. He lives and works as a freelance writer in Skopje and publishes prose, theatre plays, essays and literary reviews. His first novel Планетата на неискуството was published in 2000. He has won many awards for his literary works: these include the drama competition of the Austrian and Macedonian P.E.N. centre in 2006; in 2010 he won the literary prize of the European Union for the novel Сестрата на Зигмунд Фројд.
