Georgi Grozdev, born in 1957 in Muglen near Burgas, studied journalism at the University of Sofia. In 1991, he founded the publishing house Balkani. He is well known for his short stories and especially for his novel плячка (2004; title of the English translation: Prey) that has seen several editions in Bulgaria and has been translated to German, Serbian, Macedonian, French, Croatian, Greek, Slovenian, Armenian, English, and Romanian. In 2002, Grozdev received the prize Elin Pelin for his short stories.
