Filip David (1940–2025) was a Serbian writer and screenwriter. His many books of essays, theatre plays, collections of short stories and novels made him famous in Serbia and abroad. His most known works are “Bunar u tamnoj šumi” (“A Well in a Dark Forrest”), “Zapisi o stvarnom i nestvarnom” (“Notes of the real and the unreal”), “Princ vatre” (“Fire Prince”), “Hodočasnici neba i zemlje” (“Pilgrims of the Earth and the Sky”), “Jesmo li čudovišta” (“Are We Monsters”) and the novel “Kuća sećanja i zaborava” (“The House of Memory and Oblivion”), for which Filip David received the prestigious NIN prize in 2014 as well as the prize for the best book, awarded by the network of public libraries in Serbia in 2015. He passed away in Apil 2025.
