Birgit Birnbacher, born 1985 in Schwarzach im Pongau, is an Austrian writer. Her debut novel Wir ohne Wal was published in 2016. Her sophomore novel Ich an meiner Seite reached the number one spot on the ORF bestseller list in May 2020 and was long-listed for the German Book Prize. Birnbacher lives as a freelance writer in Salzburg.
