The Bosnian war is also the major theme in these short stories by Faruk Šehić, author of the so-called “lost generation”, which enjoyed cult status in his homeland. He himself took part in this war as an officer of the Bosnian army and makes what he has experienced come alive with precise, often dry, but also, poetic language.
