Siegfried Kracauer

Siegfried Kracauer was born in 1889 in Frankfurt am Main. He has been the Editor of the “Frankfurter Zeitung” since 1921 and in this role became one of the most important feature writers in the Weimar Republic. In 1933 he emigrated firstly to France and then to New York, where he died in 1966. Kracauer is the author of several studies on sociology and film theory, of novels and many volumes with essays and reviews.
