Sigmund Freud

Sigmund Freud, born in 1856 in Příbor (Moravia), studied medicine but turned his interest to psychopathology after a study fellowship in Paris. In his private practice, he dealt with hysteria and other forms of neuroses. He is the founder of psychoanalysis, which he further developed into a distinctive treatment and research method but also into a general psychology that includes also the phenomena of normal mental lives. In 1938, Freud emigrated to London and died there in 1939.
