Ernst Meister, was born in Hagen-Haspe in 1911, and is one of the most important poets of his time. He also wrote stories as well as radio and theatre plays. For his writing he received numerous accolades, including the the Petrarca Prize and the George Büchner Prize. Meister passed away in Hagen in 1979.
