Georgia, 1900: This story spanning six generations begins with the birth of Stasia, the daughter of a respected chocolate manufacturer. Stasia grows up surrounded by the riches of the wealthy upper class and marries the White Guard Simon Yashi. On the eve of the October Revolution, he is transferred to Petrograd, far away from his wife. When Stalin comes to power, Stasia and her two children Kitty and Kostya seek refuge with her sister Christine in Tbilisi. Germany, 2006: After the fall of the Berlin Wall and the dissolution of the USSR, civil war rages in Georgia. Niza, Stasia’s highly intelligent great-granddaughter, has broken with her family and emigrated to Berlin. When her twelve-year-old niece Brilka doesn’t want return to Tbilisi after visiting the West, Niza tracks her down. She will tell her the whole story of the family.
