Will Firth

Will Firth was born in 1965 in Newcastle, Australia. As a literary translator his focus lies on Serbo-Croatian and Macedonian language prose. He studied German and Russian in Canberra, with Serbo-Croatian as a minor subject. From 1988-89 he immersed himself in South Slavic studies in Zagreb, followed by a postgraduate year in Moscow. Since 1991, he has been living in Berlin where he works as a freelance translator. Between 2005-08 he worked as a translator for the UN War Crimes Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia. Firth is a member of the VdÜ (Germany) and Translators Association (UK).
