Kai Pannen

Kai Pannen lives as a children’s book author and illustrator in Hamburg. Born in the Lower Rhine region, he studied painting and film in Cologne and then began his professional career as an illustrator and graphic designer. He produced his own animated films, was a lecturer for animation at the Animation School Hamburg and finally pivoted towards book illustration. Nowadays, he writes children’s books himself and is his own illustrator. In 2017, Kai Pannen was named Reading Artist of the Year by the Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels.
